Event: Heavy rains and thundershowers are possible over the weekend in various regions of the Sultanate, to include the Muscat area, according to the Oman Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The Embassy reminds American citizens that flash flooding is common when it rains in Oman, especially in areas surrounding mountains and wadis. Travelers are advised to take precautions and avoid travel in these areas to the maximum extent possible when rain is forecasted.
The exact trajectory of the weather pattern is uncertain, but the forecast is that Muscat and northern Oman will experience precipitation and winds between 40-80 km/h from Thursday, July 7, 2022, through Saturday, July 9, 2022.
