The SelectUSA Investment Summit, held from June 20-22 in Washington, D.C., brought together over 3,000 business leaders, government officials, and economic development organizations to discuss investment opportunities in the United States.
Oman’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) sent two delegates to the SelectUSA Summit, including Abdallah al-Shafi, chairman of OCCI’s North Batinah Governorate Branch, to explore Omani businesses prospects in the United States. The summit gave Oman’s delegates the opportunity to participate in investing workshops, attend roundtables and plenary sessions with experts, and meet U.S. government representatives and other business leaders. These meetings will help Oman’s businesses develop robust investment plans for the U.S. market, which is one of the largest in the world with over $13 trillion in goods and services purchased in 2016.
This year’s summit focused on the theme, “Invest Here. Grow Here. Succeed Here.” Before the summit even ended, companies from the UK, Netherlands, Japan, and India announced their intention to invest more than $600 million combined in the United States
