EducationUSA Oman and 21 U.S. higher education institutions participated in the Global Higher Education Exhibition (GHEDEX), one of the biggest fairs organized by Oman’s Ministry of Higher Education, from April 14-17. During the inauguration, the Public Affairs Section Chief, Michelle Y. Outlaw welcomed his Excellency Dr. Abduallla A Sarmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education to the U.S. Embassy booth.
This year, the Expo attracted more than 15,000 students from different parts of Oman. EducationUSA and the U.S. HEIs shared information about the higher education system of the United States to the many parents, students, and educators who attended. Thanks to the generous scholarships Omani students receive from the Omani government, many students were interested in pursuing their higher education in the United States.
In addition to the information U.S. Embassy staff provided to the many visitors at the EducationUSA booth, the Public Affairs Section Chief participated in two interviews with TFM – a local radio channel- to encourage Omanis and locals to pursuit of higher education in the United States.
The event was a great opportunity to expose a range of Omani students to EducationUSA and share EducationUSA’s commitment to promote all accredited U.S. colleges and universities.
