Event: The U.S. Embassy received reports of demonstrations in and around the diplomatic quarter this morning. U.S. citizens should not come to the U.S. Embassy at this time.
In response to recent events, demonstrations are anticipated throughout the region. The U.S. Embassy in Oman advises citizens to exercise caution.
The Embassy encourages U.S. citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security messages and make it easier to locate you in an emergency. Should citizens require immediate assistance, they should contact the Royal Oman Police at 9999.

Avoid protest areas.
Avoid crowds and demonstrations.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Exercise vigilance.
Plan for alternative travel routes.
