The U.S. Embassy in Muscat is sponsoring the Ari Roland Jazz Quartet in two concerts this week in Muscat. The quartet will perform on Thursday, October 22 at Sahwa Gardens from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and on Friday, October 23 at Qurum Public Park from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The concerts are free of charge and open to the public.
The Quartet will share and promote one of the most important musical contributions America has made to the world: Jazz Music. As a “Jazz Ambassador” for the U.S. Department of State, Ari has traveled throughout the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa for over 100 programs since 2007. A fully professional jazz bassist in New York City at 16, Ari also received classical training for 5 years at The Juilliard School. He has worked with many of the most significant figures in jazz, including Barry Harris, Betty Carter, and Harry Connick Jr. Mr. Roland’s quartet is completed by band members Zaid Nasser, playing the alto saxophone, Chris Byars who plays the tenor saxophone, and Keith Balla, playing the drums.
